Introducing
Oakcreek
Country Club
Oakcreek
Country Club designed by the famous father and son team of Robert
Trent Jones Sr. and Robert Trent Jones Jr. can truly be described
as a work of art. The par 72, 18-hole championship golf course
is nestled among the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona with views beyond
compare and the golf course design a masterpiece.
The
golf course is a traditional layout similar to those that you
may find in the midwestern United States. In the usual Trent Jones
manner, the fairways are classic tree lined doglegs with fairway
bunkers strategically placed in the landing areas, and the greens
are all slightly elevated and surrounded with large swirling greenside
bunkers. The course is "player friendly", allowing plently of
room for error but always with an opportunity to recover and get
errant shots back into play.
The
golf course consists of 145 acres, including three lakes. Water
comes into play twice on the front nine between the #1 and #9
holes. On the back nine the water comes into play on holes #13
and #16 and occasionally, on hole #15. Recent renovations to the
golf course include brand new concrete cart paths and all the
greenside bunkers rebuilt under the watchful eyes of the Robert
Trent Jones Jr. design firm.
"Every hole must be a hard par and an
easy bogey"
Robert Trent Jones Sr.

Hole #4, 155 yard, par 3 - The "Signature" hole. From
an elevated tee, your tee shot sails towards the red rocks
with the hope of landing on the elevated green which is guarded
by two large greenside bunkers and makes this hole no pushover. |
| *
Hole #5, 375 yard, par 4 - A classic dogleg left with
a large bunker positioned in the left side of the fairway
to protect the hole from being shortened by the long hitters.
The approach shot is tricky because it plays to an elevated
green surrounded by bunkers on the left, right and back of
the green. |
| *
Hole #6, 375 yard par 4 - The most underrated hole at
Oakcreek Country Club. This hole plays slightly uphill to
a fairway landing area that slopes severely from left to right.
The tee shot sets up this hole and must be positioned in the
fairway for a less difficult approach shot. The approach shot
is again to an elevated green that is surrounded by the large
swirling Trent Jones bunkers. At the green you will stand
in awe of the red rock formations that provide the background
beauty. |

Holes #12, #14 and #18 - Three of the best par 4's in
the state. Each hole requires the player to hit the tee shot
long and accurately, leaving them with a long to mid - iron
shot the well bunkered greens. If these holes don't catch
your attention the scenery will. In every direction you look
you will be in awe of God's red rock architecture. |
